Mini Jersey Calf

Mini jersey calf - sold

haven heritage orion & North Woods Aurora Borlealis

Betsy (Betsy is her barn name as my husband always wanted a cow named Betsy, her actual name is North Woods Aurora Borealis) is a wonderful midsize mini jersey milking cow, she has a temperament very typical of mini jersey’s and is a delight with her personality. Betsy will follow us all around the pasture and sometimes we wonder if she thinks she is a dog and not a cow. She is incredibly easy to handle we halter her easily and she leads to the milk stall each morning without a rope or halter. She took to her routine very quickly and for being a first freshener learned how to stand for milking patiently and what was expected of her. She is bred to NW Vanguard for her second freshening. This calf will not be retained, as we only require one milking cow so do not plan to have an entire herd of cows. While we do not maintain a program for the milk cow we do take all the same points to breeding her as we do in our programs with pigs and sheep. We have to put in a little more effort because of this, we have to be honest about her strengths and weaknesses and then find a bull that would be suitable for her that will not take away from any strengths she has but also help her in areas she is weak. This is not just another calf so we have milk for the next year, this calf is thought out and each calf each year will be the same.

Please contact us if you are interested if this calf.
